"Henne": Cult in Berlin
Our crispy fried chicken is always made fresh — the very same recipe, the very same care, that has kept Berliners coming back through two World Wars, division, reunification, and everything the city has since become.
"An original. No frills — but an excellent kitchen, and fans throughout Berlin."
Each piece of true-to-the-original furniture testifies to the exciting history of this old-style Berlin bar, now more than 100 years old. There are hardly any other bars in Berlin with as much charm as "Henne". The atmosphere does not perform nostalgia — it simply never stopped being itself.
Sit under the linden trees in summer, or settle into the dark wood interior as the evenings grow cool. Either way, the chicken arrives hot, the beer arrives cold, and the city outside carries on without you for a little while — which is, entirely, the point.
Old-style Berlin Tavern
A Berlin attraction, without frills — with an excellent kitchen.
"Henne" is an original. Not in the way restaurants brand themselves originals today — but in the way a place simply endures, quietly, while the neighbourhood reshapes itself around it. Kreuzberg has seen bohemians, squatters, gentrification, tourism waves, and pandemic quiet. Henne has seen all of it from the same windows.
The menu does not change because it does not need to. The crispy fried chicken is made fresh, served at the right temperature, and accompanied by exactly what it should be accompanied by. Nothing more. The furniture is original. The atmosphere is unrepeatable.
Fans come from every quarter of Berlin — and from far beyond. They come once and return repeatedly. That is the measure of a place like this: not the press cycle, not the Instagram moment, but the quiet loyalty of people who know what they want and know where to find it.
